Texture Fun

First off. I'm getting new glasses. Turns out 2 years ago, last time I got my eyes tested I should have gotten new glasses then. I didn't.

I can't wait till they arrive. The ones I have now are cactus, held together by tape, and giving me headaches.

This week was just sickness. Horrible head cold like thing, the verge of a migraine. So no painting. Today a little bit of painting, voting was over and done with, as an early voting centre was on the bottom floor. So got that over and done with about two weeks ago.

More time to paint.

So this is the result of two albums of madness. I need to make the mushroom more colourful. Bug is showing it up.

By the way it's children have torn it's head off. This represents my ideas of having kids perfectly.

So, so ugly.

Last week or the week before... I forget. I received a package from Jody.

A few years back he ran a Kickstarter to fund a few factions of miniatures for his game. All sculpted by himself. Of course I was in. I had previously painted everything I could get my mits on when he first started up Imbrian Arts in Australia. But then he moved back to the States and things were quiet for a time.

Then the Kickstarter came. And went. Life decided to kick Jody a few times, so it has been a longer wait than first anticipated.

The above fellow is part of a set of Jungle Goblins, a bonus set in the Kickstarter. I adore them, they are so ugly. I'm going to paint them all up for the Ozpainters Texture Challenge. I have until the 30th of July I think.

I'm trying to have them painted as a set for the Challenge. Not sure if I am allowed, but it's usually pretty cool and relaxed. They will just need to be judged as a set.

The reason for all the heavy Milliput bases is that the legs are very insect-like and therefore absolutely tiny and thin. There was no chance of pinning them, so the tabs had to be covered over and sculpted.

Waiting for Milliput to dry has taken up a huge part of my scant painting time. But while not scuplting, which I am enjoying a lot, I've been putting paint on this Kingdom Death Rogue. She is very bright, I'm not if I like her yet. A few friends of mine have said she looks cool, I may just be too critical at times. She just looks too bubblegum to me.

Heaps more to do still. Have to change up that pink for one.

Base Creations

Official pics of my rock base for the Ozpainter's Basing Challenge as it closes on the 31st at midnight. I had traveled up to Lithgow and while the scenery past by in the car I realised that I don't see much of what I'd call Australian scenery in miniatures. So the idea of the rock base was conceived.

During the two months of the Challenge run time I got in a real basing mood. Although I buggered this one up by having the water too turquoise. Also it seems to clouded up since last I pulled it out of the cabinet.

This pic below is my work in progress base. Think forgotten lonely temple, then add a thief standing in the doorway. That is my general aim.

Plodding Along

I've set myself up for a hell of a job here, but it would have driven me mad if anything was out of place.

Ruined this base with far too turquoise resin.

Worktable at the moment.

Need to undercoat something to paint, can't do much scenery stuff in the morning.
